& Hopes of Another

So, a couple of weeks ago, I got the urge to get out my fall decorations.  I am not usually a seasonal decorator except for fall and Christmas.  I like fall decorations that can stay out from now until Thanksgiving.  Then, of course, it is time for Christmas trees and garland.
It has been a challenging week for me.  I have felt down in the dumps for several days, so I decided that I needed some therapy.  Being creative is a release for me.  I was feeling the tug, so today after work I went to one of my favorite places - Hobby Lobby!  I walk through those doors and my creative juices start flowing.  I can't explain the thrill of feeling my wheels turn.

As I walked around the aisles and aisles of beautiful things I found something that struck me.  I looked at it - and looked at it - and then I walked away.  THEN I came back.  These cycles continued for 2 more hours!  I was wandering around and around and kept right on coming back to the same spot.  I know, ridiculous, right?  I finally decided that this was something that struck me for a reason. The thing that so infected my thoughts and monopolized my time was a collage of frames with the word "family" and three places for photographs. One simple problem, there are only two of us.  That extra frame was nagging at me.  I so desperately desire for there to be another to fill that third frame.  So, I decided to make a place saver;  a reminder for myself of the hope that we have in God's promised plan for our lives.

Someday

Someday, we will count your fingers and kiss each one.
Someday, we will swaddle you in the softest blanket and hold you as long as you'll let us.
Someday, snowflakes will fall and I will hold you up and watch them melt on your sweet baby skin.
Someday, we will cross the street and you will hold tight to my hand.
Someday, it will rain and we'll laugh and jump in the puddles.
Someday, I will watch you sleep, watch you dream, and we will dream too.
Someday, you will dive into the cool, clear water of a lake.
Someday, you will walk into a deep wood.
Someday, your eyes will be filled with a joy so deep that they will shine.
Someday, you will run so fast and so far your heart will feel like fire.
Someday, you will swing high - so high, higher than you ever dared to swing.
Someday, you will hear something so sad that you will fold up with sorrow.
Someday, you will call a song to the wind, and the wind will carry your song away.
Someday, we will stand on the porch and watch your arms waving to us until we no longer can see you.
Someday, you will look at our house and wonder how something that feels so big can look so small.
Someday, you will find the one that you love like you've never loved before.
Someday, you will feel the weight of a small child against your strong back.
Someday, we will watch you brush your child's hair.
Someday, a long time from now, your hair will grow silver in the sun.
When that day comes, you will remember us.
And someday, we will remember how long we waited for you.
Until someday comes, we will wait.
